5 Things You Need to Know Today, 8/14

1) Sunny and humid again today, with temperatures in the low and mid 80s. Clouding up around sundown, with some chance of rain overnight, and temperatures in the low 70s.

2) Stop by the Barnstable County Fairgrounds between noon and 4 p.m. to check out the homegrown, organic products on sale at the Green Harvest Organic Farmers Market. Produce, eggs, jellies, jams, soups, sandwiches, seafood, breads, and granola bars are all on display, plus handcrafted soaps and organic lawn care products. 3) The Falmouth Public Library hosts the first meeting of the Kids Take the Stage Workshop today, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Over the course of the week, children ages 11 and up will work as a group to write their own screenplay, then pick parts, rehearse, and present their drama for family and friends. Mother-daughter team Davien and Morgan Gould, both of whom have extensive experience in theater, will direct the program. Make sure to sign up beforehand. 4) The Falmouth Art Market is in operation today, beginning at 2 p.m., in Town Hall Square. A host of local craftspeople will be on hand offering their work for display and purchase. Paintings, jewelry, quilts, clothing, and much more, all handmade, will be represented. Live music will entertain visitors as well. Performing this week will be pirate troubadours Morgan Rattler (from 2:30 through 5 p.m.) and folk/blues combo the Joe Sutton Band (from 5 to 7:30).
