The Falmouth Arts Center invites you to Starry, Starry Night, its annual summer gala under the tent. Tonight between 6:30 and 9:30, your $75 ticket lets you sample delicious hors d'oeuvres prepared by Chef Roland (washed down with complimentary drinks), listen to piano music by Evan Ewing, and participate in silent auctions of art works. Today and all this weekend, the Cape Cod Theatre Project presents American Hero, a play by Bess Wohl, whose career has spanned television, film, and theater. The play recounts the story of a group of abandoned workers at a fast food restaurant who will do whatever it takes to keep their jobs. Tickets are $20, and the play runs from 8-10 p.m., tonight, Saturday, and Sunday. The Falmouth Historical Society celebrates Oreo Cookie's 100th Anniversary on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. Kids can decorate their own Oreos, learn about the cookie's history, plus participate in a surprising variety of Oreo-themed crafts and games. Sunday is the last day to enter the M.R. Soares Flower Garden Nursery's Crazy Container Contest. Stop by the nursery over the weekend for inspiration from the pieces already on display, then let your own imagination roam, and get to work decorating a plant container with any and every material you can think of. The MBL's Lillie Auditorium hosts an Illustrated Talk by Benjamin Mendlowitz, renowned marine photographer, on Sunday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., presented by the Woods Hole Public Library. Mr. Mendlowitz had been producing his famous Calendar of Wooden Boats for 30 years, plus various other books of photographs, and work for such publications as Nautical Quarterly, Sail, Yachting, Cruising World, Professional Boatbuilder, and more. He'll present a slide show of some of his favorite work, and talk about what drives and inspires him.
