Falmouth's smallest village will be hosting a special celebration on Saturday, August 25, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Waquoit Day Celebration will feature live music, great food, kids' activities, historic tours, and more. Volunteers for the event are being sought.

The Waquoit Day Steering Committee announced the celebration in a statement released recently. “Residents and businesses in Waquoit are hosting an old-fashioned village fair where people can gather, listen to great music, eat food and celebrate all things Waquoit,” the statement reads. “This will be a great free community event for all who live or work in Waquoit and for all people who just love Waquoit.

“The Waquoit Bay Reserve will hold activities from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., with netting at the Bay, osprey viewing, and coastal crafts. At 11:00 a.m., join one of the education staff for a guided nature walk, and at 11:30 a.m., volunteers will lead an estate tour of the historic Sargent Estate and a tour of the Waquoit cemetery.

“The Waquoit Congregational Church will be hosting an arts and crafts market from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. From 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., local businesses and organizations will host activity tables with games for kids along with crafts and displays depicting Waquoit’s history. Live music will feature Flipside and John+Rachel Nicholas. A variety of food and drink will be available.

“The Waquoit Day Steering Committee is seeking additional volunteers to help out during the day. If you would like to get involved, please contact Toni Grady at 508-548-9457.”
