2) The Ellen T. Mitchell Bath House at Surf Drive Beach is the starting point for Going for Gold, an event celebrating the Olympic accomplishments of Falmouth's own Erik Vendt. The day begins at 8 a.m., with a half-mile fun swim for children under 18. Afterward, the kids will lead a parade up Water Street to Peg Noonan Park, where a ceremony honoring Vendt will take place, expected around 11 a.m. One and all are invited to attend to ceremony, and help celebrate one of Falmouth's finest athletes. 3) Stop by Mashpee Commons between noon and 4 p.m. to catch the Seaside Le Mans, a race of European-style Formula One karts. It's free to watch the race, which will be going on all afternoon, on the specially constructed quarter-mile track set up around the commons. 4) Quicks Hole hosts Fire in the Hole, an event full of spicy foods, between 4 and 6 p.m. Peppers are the featured fiery ingredient, with lots of games, fun events, and of course food.
