Almost 4,500 voters visited the polls in Falmouth yesterday, to participate in the Massachusetts primary election. Democratic ballots outnumbered Republican, 3,103 to 1,367. Complete primary results are available here.

The U.S. Senate results were no surprise, with both Republican incumbent Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren running unopposed in their respective primaries. In the race for representative from Massachusetts' newly redrawn District 9, Falmouth Democrats chose William Keating over Sam Sutter, mirroring statewide results.

Falmouth Republicans went for Adam Chaprales by a wide margin over Christopher Sheldon. It remains to be seen which candidate will face Keating in November's general election, as statewide results are too close to call at this point.

State Senate President Therese Murray easily beat challenger Stephen Palmer in the Democratic primary, both in Falmouth and across the commonwealth. Murray's opponent in November will be Republican Thomas Keyes, who ran unopposed on the Republican side.

Falmouth Democrats voted overwhelmingly for Oliver Cipollini, Jr., in the three-man primary for District 1 Governor's Council, but the statewide results were much closer, with Cipollini barely edging his competition. That victory earns him the right to face his brother, Republican incumbent Charles Cipollini, in November.
