Work has begun on a contract to paint Cape Cod Canal’s Sagamore Bridge in Bourne. The project includes abrasive blast cleaning of the entire steel superstructure of the Sagamore Bridge to bare metal.
Workers are currently installing access platforms and a containment system on the bridge. Travel lane restrictions on the Sagamore Bridgewill be necessary periodically during the project. The restrictions will be temporary and will avoid dates of peak traffic volume using the bridge.
Lane restrictions are currently planned to begin during the weeks of April 8-12, 2013 and April 16-19, 2013. Between the hours of 8am – 4:30pm, one northbound travel lane will be closed on the Sagamore Bridge.
Two southbound lanes and one northbound lane will be open for travel. These lane restrictions will be a daily set-up of traffic control devices.
All travel lanes will be open each night and for Patriots Day, Monday, April 15, 2013.
